Project Impact Areas

Here’s how you will create significant impact through the Remote Internship in Social Impact & Nonprofit.

Project Facilitation

It is important for interns to understand more about the communities we assist; you will spend time getting to know our projects, our fantastic community partners and enhance relations. You can expect to run virtual workshops in the communities we partner with to leave your impact and receive a better, in-depth understanding of our projects.

Measuring Impact

Measuring the impact our projects have on the communities and conservation is essential to ensure we are making a difference. We take our work seriously and are constantly looking for innovative ways in which we can deliver programs that will educate, empower and enrich our community partners and conservation programs. You will work alongside the Foundation’s Impact Manager.

NGO Management

As a charity, a large portion of the Foundation’s time is dedicated towards fundraising and donor relations. Once-off, regular and corporate donors are vital to the Foundation’s survival and ultimately influence the impact that can be made on the ground. You will be involved directly with the management of donations and the supervision of the implementation of all funds. This will include all financial aspects, including the monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on all donations.

Introducing Yonela Avene Mhlauli, the driving force behind the African Impact Foundation’s programs and internships. As the Impact Support and Intern Manager, Yonela expertly guides the foundation’s initiatives and nurtures our internship program. Her journey began in Textile Design, but a pivotal role with the Desmond Tutu Foundation Youth Program in 2015 ignited her passion for nonprofit work. This experience opened her eyes to the transformative power of community-focused organizations. Today, Yonela channels her creativity and insights into creating enriching experiences for interns while propelling the foundation’s mission forward. Her unique blend of artistic background and nonprofit expertise makes her an invaluable mentor, inspiring the next generation of changemakers in Africa.

Your weekly cost will reduce if you book for longer than 2 weeks, book with a friend or are a return volunteer.

DO I NEED ANY QUALIFICATIONS TO DO THIS INTERNSHIP?

We do not require any qualifications for this internship! This program is well suited to any students, graduates, or professionals looking to gain professional experience in the NGO & Charity sector. This internship is highly customizable, allowing you to pursue an academic interest or passion of your choosing, from digital marketing to fundraising to strategic research.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME TO COMPLETE THIS INTERNSHIP?

The course is flexible in its nature and it can take between 1 – 6 months to complete. This will depend on how much time you have to deviate yourself to the course. You can expect 50% of the course to comprise of courses, reading materials, tests and 1 on 1 sessions with our African Impact Foundation team. The final 50% of the course is made up of practical, independent work with weekly check-ins with our team.

DO I RECEIVE ANYTHING AFTER COMPLETING THIS INTERNSHIP?

After completing your course, you will receive a certificate of participation, as well as a professional reference. As an intern, you will also qualify for a 10% discount on other African Impact volunteer or internship projects that are run out of African Impact bases.
