Access to Education

Education is one of the most powerful tools in overcoming poverty as it empowers individuals and strengthens whole communities. As such, African Impact’s Teach English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) initiative is working to improve the quality of, and access to, education in disadvantaged communities across East and Southern Africa.

Creating Opportunities

TEFL students help towards this, providing opportunities, support, and one-on-one attention that otherwise wouldn’t exist for the communities we work with. By applying for the online TEFL course and undertaking your practicum with us, you’ll teach young children as they start their education journey, work with teenagers who are transitioning into the next stage of their lives, and help adults wanting to improve their employability by enhancing their knowledge of the English language.

Quality Education and Reduced Inequality

In line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals of Quality Education and Reduced Inequality, this initiative aims to improve the socio-economic structures of a community, mitigate poverty, promote gender equality, empower people over their own future, and enable students to achieve their full potential. All the while allowing TEFL students to do the same.

Absolutely! To become a TEFL Certified Teacher, you must complete the official TEFL course. TEFL online courses are just as recognized as taking a TEFL course in a classroom setting and is perhaps a more popular learning experience. The beauty of taking the TEFL course online is the flexibility distance learning allows, enabling you to complete the first step of your TEFL certification online and in a way that fits your unique schedule.

We’ve partnered directly with TEFL to provide the official online TEFL course in collaboration with our incredible teaching internships in Africa. Joining us for your TEFL course is the ultimate way to gain your TEFL certification, combining engaging online coursework with bucket-list teaching practicum placements in Africa.

Our TEFL Internships start at $2240. This cost includes your official online TEFL course, as well as your two-week teaching practicum in Africa. Additionally, these costs cover your accommodation, meals, 24/7 African Impact in-country support, and mentorship throughout your internship placement. If you wish to extend your stay in Africa as a TEFL teacher, these fees will increase slightly with each extra week you add to your adventure.

Once you’ve received your official TEFL certification, you’ll be eligible to teach English in over 50 countries around the world. Be sure to get your TEFL certification from an official TEFL course; however, (like ours) as, without an official TEFL qualification, you may not be eligible to teach abroad. Our TEFL internships are the best ways to gain your TEFL certification, make some incredible impacts teaching English abroad, and have an unforgettable African adventure!
