High School Programs in Zanzibar | African Impact

High School Programs

A school experience in Jambiani, shaped around your students. Combine marine conservation fieldwork, community teaching, and cultural exchange, guided by local experts.

Designed around
your students

Bring your students to Zanzibar for an immersive experience, and one that’s entirely tailored to your goals. Every school arrives with its own aims, schedule, and sense of what a great trip should be, so we start by listening. From there, we build your Zanzibar program together with your teachers and group leaders: more time on the water for a science-minded group, more time in classrooms for a group drawn to teaching, or a blend of both.
Marine fieldwork, community projects, and cultural exchange all come with local guidance and time to reflect, and you choose the mix that suits your students. The result is an exciting program that fits your group perfectly.

What your group could explore

These are possible themes, not a promised schedule. We work with you to select and adapt activities according to your school’s goals and what is appropriate locally.

Marine conservation awareness

Observe dolphin monitoring and coral reef survey work, and learn how the research feeds into more responsible marine tourism.

Teaching & Learning

Support nursery and adult English classes alongside the teachers already working in Jambiani.

Beach & community clean-ups

Take part in litter pick-ups and conversations about waste and environmental responsibility.

Coastal eco education

Explore Jozani Forest, mangroves, and sustainable local practices like sponge farming.

Swahili & cultural exchange

Learn a few phrases, join a village tour, and take part in cultural presentations and shared meals

Community connection

Make space for listening, cultural exchange, and reflection, so the experience is about learning with people, not just doing for them.

Built to fit your group

Tell us what matters to your school. We’ll use that conversation to help shape a considered program, rather than asking you to fit a template.

Your Students

Ages, group size, interests, experience, and the level of challenge that feels right.

Your learning goals

A curriculum link, service-learning objective, or broader goal around leadership, teamwork, or global understanding.

Your practical needs

Dates, supervision, group support, and the balance of marine conservation, teaching, and reflection before shaping a plan.

Let’s plan your
school experience

Tell us about your students, potential dates, learning goals, and the themes you’d like to explore. We can start a conversation about what a Zanzibar program might look like for your group.
