School Service Programs in Zanzibar | African Impact

School programs

Bring learning beyond the classroom to Zanzibar’s southeast coast. Your students spend their days with marine scientists, local teachers, and a village community, with the Indian Ocean on the doorstep. Every group is different, so every program is built around your school.

Choose the Right Program

High School Programs

A flexible, community-focused experience shaped around your group’s goals. Students might spend time on the water with marine researchers, in classrooms with local teachers, or taking part in community projects, with time built in to talk about what they’re seeing. Your school decides the length, focus, and pace.

IB CAS groups

An 8-day program for 10–25 students, built around marine conservation, community work, cultural exchange, and structured reflection. It supports Creativity, Activity and Service, with opportunities to consider all seven CAS learning outcomes. Your school stays responsible for CAS assessment and sign-off.

Why Schools Choose Zanzibar

Real, ongoing work.

Our marine conservation project has monitored dolphins and coral reefs in Menai Bay since 2007, so students join work that was underway long before they arrived and will continue after they leave.

A real community.

You’re based in Jambiani, a village on Zanzibar’s southeast coast, where students learn alongside local teachers and families rather than passing through.

Planned with you.

Teachers stay closely involved in student care, and our Jambiani team handles local coordination, safeguarding conversations, and support.
