Mthimkulu is an ecological restoration and wildlife management project bordering Kruger National Park. Years of poaching and overgrazing, with no prior systematic monitoring, left the land degraded. We’re building that baseline from scratch, and every volunteer and intern contributes data that outlasts their time here.
Our volunteer and intern programs suit people exploring a career in land or wildlife management and conservation, as much as those who are simply passionate about land restoration. Either way, you get a serious deep dive into the issues at stake and an opportunity to get involved in active field work.
You’ll work alongside a permanent team of field ecologists, and the field research you’ll do will feed into camera trap databases, national bird atlas records, anti-poaching efforts, and the decisions that shape how the reserve is managed.
