Meet the African Impact Team in Zambia

Meet the Team

Our team lives and works in Livingstone full-time, running the community programs year-round and maintaining the hospital and clinic relationships that make your placement possible.

Sander Rixtum

Base Manager

Sander has been with African Impact since 2015, after first joining the year before as a volunteer on the medical project. Back home in the Netherlands, he worked as a social worker in a residential home for people with disabilities. He is passionate about healthcare and enjoys working with the communities here in Livingstone. In his free time, he likes to relax by the pool with a Mosi and catch up on movies and series.

Mutinta Havuluma

Volunteer Manager

Mutinta was born and raised in Livingstone and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with Demography. She first learned about African Impact through a school near her home, where she watched staff and volunteers teaching children and painting murals, and hoped one day to be part of that positive impact. Mutinta joined as a coordinator and has been Volunteer Manager since March 2024. Outside of work, she has a passion for tailoring and design and loves making outfits for herself and others.

Mulenga Mwamba

Groups Leader

Mulenga was born in Monze but has lived in Livingstone for most of his life. He joined the Livingstone Community Projects as Volunteer Manager in May 2022. In April 2024, he moved to Cape Town, where he worked in a range of roles across African Impact’s projects, including Destination Specialist. In October 2025, he returned home to Zambia to become Groups Leader. Mulenga is known for his good humor and has a knack for cheering people up, even when they didn’t know they needed it.

Justin Mbuzi

Driver & Community Liaison

Justin belongs to the Ngoni people and is fluent in Nyanja, as well as Tonga, Lozi, and English. He lives in Maramba compound with his wife and three children. Justin joined us in September 2019 as a driver and community liaison. Outside of work, he loves watching and playing football and is a devoted Manchester United supporter. (Come on, you Reds!)

Reuben Hachikuyu

Reuben Hachikuyu

Reuben is the newest member of our Zambian team, having joined in February 2025. A registered nurse, he holds a Diploma in Nursing from Livingstone School of Nursing and Midwifery and has experience in patient assessment, medication administration, health education, and infection prevention and control. He also runs our Health Club and Eco Club, always with a big smile. Reuben was born and raised in Livingstone and loves playing basketball in his free time.
