The research internship I had participated in for 12 weeks was the best experience of my life! I had never done anything like this before and was quite nervous when I arrived but the staff and other volunteers/ interns made me feel right at home. The facility is amazing and kept clean twice to three times a week and the food is delicious! Being located right next to the olifant river gives you a first hand experience with the wildlife and there’s nothing as surreal as a herd of elephants coming up to camp. This internship has changed my life and would recommend it to anyone questioning themselves on whether to come here or not. Do it, you won’t regret it!

I applied to this program as part of my University Placement and I am so glad I did. This experience has been life changing, it has helped me form and develop some essential skills that I need for the career that I have in mind for myself. The project is hard work, but it is so fulfilling. The people that I met will hold a special place in my heart for a long time.

Volunteering at African Impact was one of the greatest experiences ever. The staff are amazing and are the most caring and welcoming people you’ll ever meet. I immediately felt like I was a part of the African impact family. Everything was so well organised and the projects were better than I expected. If you want to be involved in the Livingstone community and have an authentic experience African Impact is the best possible people to do it with. I couldn’t be more grateful for the 4 weeks I spent here - having the opportunity to help the community was life changing but was made amazing by all the fun activities from the African Impact team. I love you all.

I had quite literally the time of my life during my month here as a public health intern. I would definitely recommend one full month, if possible to any new volunteers. It takes several days to settle in, and several more to find your groove, but once you do, you'll be amazed at the huge variety of meaningful, impactful work you're able to do here. On any given day, I could be cleaning wounds in home-based care, supporting local 5-and-under clinics, teaching math or reading or rugby to after school clubs, and the list goes on. My primary focus here was as a public health intern where another volunteer and I worked under the guidance of staff to complete a pilot study on the local population. Fulfilling doesn't even begin to describe my experience. The only thing more enjoyable than my daily work was the incredible group of kind and selfless staff and volunteers that have become some of my best friends for life. I was nervous about what this experience would look like going in, and could not have been more pleasantly surprised.

This program was a life-changing experience for me. I was able to get to see animals I always saw on screen, how they live and interact with other animals and nature in general. I met amazing people and amazing guides who shared their knowledge with us, teaching us everything about wild animals and environment. We had the weekends to do some amazing trips, like going to Kruger National park and much more. All the staff are amazing, they work all day to make this the best experience anyone could have.

The best decision I have ever made in my life was to volunteer with African Impact in the early childhood education program. The children, staff and other volunteers I met on this journey have made a huge impact on my life as I hope I did theirs. I would 10/10 recommend doing this and hope I can do it again some time in the future!

My time here has been nothing short of amazing. Outside of the impact I am fortunate enough to make, the wildlife is outstanding. I've seen so many elephants I've started to take them for granted. On top of that, the people that work here are truly inspirational. Everyone seems to love what they do and accepts everyone with open arms. All of the staff are eager to help without any judgement (they're also a lot of fun too). This has been truly a memory I won't forget and I hope to come back one day.

Volunteering and teaching in Zanzibar has been an amazing experience, filled with the joy of making a real impact. Working with both the children and adults in this wonderful community has been incredibly rewarding – their enthusiasm for learning and genuine kindness are heartening. What sets this experience apart is not just the meaningful work within the project but also the exceptional staff who have made this journey seamless. Beyond the teaching, the opportunities to explore and connect outside the project have been key in forming friendships that will last forever. I will leave with memories to last a lifetime. Thanks to everyone at this amazing company!
