Support Important Conservation and Reforestation Efforts in Kenya

Delve into the heart of Kenya’s rich biodiversity, where ancient forests whisper stories of resilience. Become a steward of these vital ecosystems by removing invasive species, collecting and nurturing native seeds, and maintaining the delicate balance of the forest trails.

Join hands with passionate local communities – women’s groups, farm workers, and enthusiastic youth – as you embark on a journey of shared learning and purposeful action. Together, you’ll foster a culture of healthy living, promoting well-being and fostering a connection with the natural world. Share your knowledge, engage in cultural exchange, and plant the seeds of environmental awareness in the next generation of Kenyan changemakers.

Highly recommend, the trip was fantastic, I have learned so much about the environment, different cultures and people and I am so grateful I had the opportunity, highly recommend! I have become wiser and more aware of the world, and how I can help support it. Amazing staff. Enjoy yourself, you'll remember it forever.

Katharina Nowak31, Germany

It was a great pleasure for me to work 6 weeks as a volunteer on this project! The Placement Manager from African Impact made it possible for me to book at short notice and helped me a lot with the preparations. The team onsite took very good care of me in Kenya and went the extra mile to make the stay perfect. I learned a lot every day and had a lot of fun at work! The vision of the local project is to be the lead organization in ecological restoration in Kenya. They have a lot of know-how, they are a young & motivated team and they also do a lot of research projects. Therefore the work is super exciting and varied. It made me very happy to contribute to this important project. In addition, I was very grateful that I was able to see a lot of this beautiful country, to get to know the culture and to make really good friends. Many thanks to all who contributed to this awesome experience!

Jake Evans27, UK

I had an incredible time in Limuru with African Impact and will cherish my memories there forever. The team are so passionate about restoring the environment there and learning/experiencing how they are achieving this was wonderful. Our coordinator, Esther, was extremely helpful and friendly through the entire project, as well as helping the volunteers experience various aspects of the community.

I will take this experience with me for the rest of my life. Thanks for making it happen African Impact!

HardeepDenmark

I think it has changed pretty much all my perspectives in life. But it has been a real eye opener to see how and what it means to be in the midst of poverty and actually experiencing to be with these people, and hearing and observing what issues and consequences poverty has. I am definitely feeling lucky living in Denmark and this whole experience has made me appreciate and value even the smallest thing.

Project FAQs

HOW CAN I MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE DURING MY TIME IN KENYA?

Beyond the physical work, your presence and positive attitude can have a significant impact. Be respectful of the local culture, embrace the opportunity to learn from the community, and share your own knowledge and enthusiasm for environmental protection. Every small action contributes to a larger goal of restoring and preserving Kenya’s precious ecosystems.

DO I NEED PRIOR EXPERIENCE IN ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION?

While prior experience is always welcome, most programs prioritise enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. If you’ve got an interest in the natural world, trees and conservation – you are halfway there! And you don’t have to worry, you’ll be working alongside experienced professionals who will guide you every step of the way.

WHY VOLUNTEER IN KENYA?

This East African country is a favourite travel destination for many global independent travellers – and for good reason. It has some of the best wildlife viewing on the continent, striking scenery (including the Maasai Mara), and many proud traditional tribes. With African Impact, you can experience responsible volunteering in Kenya whilst joining a purpose-driven expedition in a unique part of Africa.
