Victoria Falls is a tourist town of Zimbabwe. Flanked by the mighty Victoria Falls, this landmark is a must-see space for our volunteers during their stay. When our volunteers aren’t busy on project, here are the top 10 adventures they can get up to in the area.

Here are our top ten things to do in Victroia Falls, Zimbabwe:

1. Explore African culture and cuisine at the famous Boma restaurant

There is nothing that better encompasses the African spirit than dinner at the Boma. Enjoy an array of dishes including game meat such as impala, buffalo and kudu, delicious soups, stews and salads, and an incredible display of desserts, while being entertained throughout the evening – with dancing and drumming that you can join in with!

2. Have sundowners on a cruise down the Zambezi River

If you enjoy relaxing on the water, then the Zambezi Sunset Cruise is perfect for you. This cruise lasts a couple of hours taking you along the Zambezi River where you have the opportunity to see crocodiles, hippos and other wildlife.

3. Get a birds-eye view from a helicopter tour of the Falls

Hit the sky with a helicopter ride for a birds-eye view of the amazing Victoria Falls. The 15 or 25-minute ride will take you to the falls where it will make figure-eights giving you spellbinding views of the river, falls and the gorge.

4. Enjoy a Lion King sunset at the Safari Lodge

Africa is renowned for its sunsets, and Victoria Falls is no exception. With stunning views overlooking the vast parks in Victoria Falls, the Safari Lodge not only offers you a wonderful setting for the sunset but also has a watering hole that attracts an array of animals. Add a drink to your hand, and you have a perfect afternoon treat!

5. Take a leap, do the gorge swing

If a 70m freefall sounds like a blast to you, then the Gorge Swing is the activity you don’t want to miss. The 95m long swing pivots you in the centre of the 316m long and 120m deep gorge. With the choice of jumping forwards, backwards or head first into freefall makes the gorge swing the ultimate leap of faith!

6. Camp under the stars in the Zambezi National Park

Hit the bush for an evening (or two, or more!) in the Zambezi National Park. With a land mass of 56,000 hectares, the park has amazing game viewing with regular sightings of elephant, giraffes, zebra and much more. The Zambezi National Park also offers camping sites for booking along the Zambezi River or directly in the bush – there’s a place to suit everyone!

7. Feeling fancy? Try out High Tea offered at Victoria Falls Hotel

Enjoy a piece of history at the Victoria Falls Hotel, which boasts incredible views of Victoria Falls gorge and in late afternoon offers up an amazing High Tea of scones, savoury treats and unlimited tea!

8. For all the daredevils, white water rafting should be on your list of activities

Tackle the mighty Zambezi River with a full day rafting trip. With rapid names like Terminator, Stairway to Heaven, the Washing Machine and Oblivion along the gorge, you know you’re in for a wild, exhilarating ride!

9. Don’t let life flash you by – bungee jump

Take a headfirst dive into adrenalin with a bungee jump from the Victoria Falls bridge overlooking the Second Gorge of the falls. At a jump height of 111m, this is a perfect activity for travellers looking for some excitement.

10. Visit the mighty Victoria Falls

It wouldn’t be a trip to Victoria Falls without actually visiting the mighty Falls themselves! Wander through the rainforest of the Victoria Falls National Park where a myriad of different viewing points give an unobstructed view of the falls. As the world’s largest sheet of falling water, this magnificent natural wonder is an incredible sight to see and a must for any bucket list!
