Lion Encounter - Africa Breeding Program
Africa travel partners
» Lion Encounter
Be more than just a tourist... be a conservationist. The lion population
of Africa is rapidly dwindling, and currently the estimated number
of lions present on the continent is less than 15,000. The African
Lion is now officially on the list of vulnerable species, and intense
lobbying by conservation organisations worldwide has begun the fight
to upgrade the African Lion to the endangered species list.
Lion Encounter Africa gives you the chance to
experience our hand-reared juvenile lions in the Masuwe Big 5 conservation
area near Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. You will have the unique experience
of walking with these magnificent creatures in their natural environment,
whilst learning more about the lion-breeding program.
Lion Encounter Africa believes in the conservation of the African
Lion, and is currently involved in this plight through:
- Researching the reintroduction of captive bred lions into the
wild
- Initiating and facilitating the controlled breeding of lions
in a protected natural environment for reintroduction into the
wild
- Working with all interested stakeholders in the above
