Hi Everyone!
Welcome to our latest newsletter – and welcome to 2008!! May this year be one that challenges you all to indulge your travel bugs and come and experience Africa with us if you’re aren’t planning to do so already!
World Media was focused on the civil unrest in Kenya earlier this year, and in last months newsletter I included feedback from our project manager, Tesni Anderson. Despite the media hype, our volunteers continued with their work on the outskirts of Nairobi and have been involved in amazing humanitarian efforts from refugee feeding schemes to orphan care. We have not officially re-opened our Medical and Commuity Project and invite you to come and experience East Africa with us!
Find out more about our new Zanzibar Teaching and Community Project
Our project base is on the east coast of Zanzibar in a long village set on a pristine stretch of coastline, where you will be tempted to spend your days relaxing under the palm trees sipping coconut juice. In these spectacular surroundings we invite you to join our work in various teaching, community and environmental programmes. On weekends you will have time to explore this breathtaking archipelago further.
Please also visit our website to find out more about our new Cheetah Rehabilitation Project in South Africa, which involves hands-on work with cheetah at a unique breeding and rehabilitation station on a beautiful private conservancy.
Also read on for feedback from ALERT’s David Youldon, with updates from our lion rehabilitatoin project, as well as stories from some of our most recent volunteers, links to our blog and updates on projects that are in the spotlight this month.
This newsletter also features information on PATHFINDERS – our sister organisation that focuses on Responsible Adventure Experiences in Africa. Climb Kilimanjaro; Raft the Nile; Dhow safaris and island trekking in the World Heritage Site Bazaruto Archipelago off the Mozambican coast; bush survival courses in Big 5 areas, Kayak the mighty Zambezi River… and more.
