Mature volunteer? Career breaker?
Don’t doubt that you can do it... please contact us for advice or stories from previous volunteers. Our oldest volunteer to date has been 64 who worked on our lion programme for 4 months in December of 2004. Neil returned with his partner again in December of 2005 to reunite with the cubs who made such a difference in his life...
Summer specials!!
Email us for further information on our Summer programmes, including our Kenya camel and clinic building trip; our Zimbabwe Big 5 conservation programme and Pathfinders adventure activities.
We are also more than willing to put together great combination packages for you. We are 100% of the opinion that whilst you contribute to Africa during your time with us, it’s equally exciting that Africa is contributing to yours as this great continent opens your eyes and changes your perspectives...
African Impact welcomes...
Welcome to Amanda Phillips, Niki Brown, Mark Slatter, Ellen Connelly and Kari Jansen van Vuuren.
We have been blessed with immense growth so far in 2006 and are amazed at the work that we are able to facilitate and the results that we have the privilege of achieving. Here are the latest additions to our amazing team of field workers:
- Amanda Phillips has recently joined us in Cape Town coordinating our community programmes. Our Cape Town programme is still fairly new and we’re looking forward to having Aussie Amanda on board as we work through the exciting developmental stages in Africa’s premire tourist city.
- We would like to welcome Niki Brown to our coordinator team at Antelope Park! Niks is one of our oldest standing volunteers and has now committed herself indefinitely to working with volunteers on the lion programme. We are so excited to have Niks on board. Ben Deary, also a former Antelope Park volunteer will be joining Niki at AP whilst David Youldon is on leave.
- We are also delighted to welcome Ellen Connelly on board as our new Hwange National Park programme coordinator to work along side Jerry Matsika. Ellen has a Zoology background and will be a huge asset to our conservation and research work on the ground in Hwange.
- Mark Slatter, a Zoology honours major from Rhodes University in South Africa has joined us this month to work on our Zambezi National Park programme as coordinator of the research and conservation work that we have planned for that National Park.
- Kari Jansen van Vuuren has joined our Harare office this month as our newest placement coordinator along with Barbs Taylor and Lauren Lock who are both already doing amazing work to make your lives simpler and to facilitate your travel to Africa.
Livingstone, Zambia
Greg Bows and Marleen Lammers are doing an amazing job of coordinating and managing our Livingstone programme!
With both teaching and medical volunteers on the ground there, and the expected arrivals of 20 volunteers in July and 25 in August, there are amazing things happening on the ground in this corner of the world! We have had volunteers assisting with delivering babies and then being asked to name them (Matthew is what Emily, Laura and Jane chose), as well as local soccer teams asking Marc to stay on and coach them permanently!
We are also making headway with our planned refurbishment programmes in Livingstone, which aims to involve local tourists and overland travellers in our re-building and refurbishment projects on a short time basis. We will have a more detailed feature on Livingstone in our next newsletter, so keep a look out for it!
