The 3P's The 2P's The 3N's

The 2A's 3A's and friends!

3P’S

Now seven and a half months old, the cubs are currently still living in camp whilst we rebuild Waterfall enclosure following a massive flood in December that washed it away. Praise has been ill of late, but he is receiving a course of medication and is improving nicely. Paka is a very feisty cub and Phyre is as orange in colour as her name suggests. The two females are very playful. Over the last few days we have introduced them to some of the game in the park. They got their first sight of zebra, wildebeest, hartebeest, impala and kudu. They were very exited by the experience, especially Paka, but still too nervous at this age to approach the game too close.

2A’S

Ashanti has also been ill but is back to her old self. She has become quite naughty, but has started to grow significantly. She is now noticeably larger than Ariel, which is a relief to us all as they were so difficult to tell apart. At 15 months old they remain devoted sisters.

3A’S

Also 15 months the 3A's are proving to be prime hunters. They outstrip all the other lions in sheer size and to watch them hunt as a team is awesome. Achillies tends to take the lead with Apollo and Athena providing flanking support. They have been on the backs of zebra time and time again, and as they gain weight we hope they may even bring one down. Athena regularly catches and kills monitor lizards which she finds amongst the rocks near Bush enclosure and is finally growing into a very pretty lion, although she still has the neck of Mike Tyson.

3K’S

Over 15 months old, this beautiful set of cubs continue to be a firm favourite among volunteers. Their gentle and affectionate nature endears them to everyone, but you need to see Kwali move when hunting!!!!! She is constantly alert and stalks everything in sight, whilst Kwezi looks on with those beautiful eyes of his (typical male)

Luke, Arthur and Mufassa

The cheeky lads have taken to climbing everything in sight. Believe it or not Arthur can usually be found right at the top of the tallest tree in their enclosure. On one occasion Luke climbed out and into the management enclosure. Soon after all 3 climbed over. And then just recently Luke decided to climb again...this time to join Maxwell and his girls. He was coaxed back without incident, but it is clear that more fence making by volunteers is required to renovate our last couple of old style enclosures.

Max and Lulu

A couple of months ago Lulu became pregnant and gave birth to little Max’s but unfortunately died a coupe of hours later. It was a very sad day as it was the first time Max was being used for breeding and we all thought that Lulu and Max were very healthy lions we would in return have very health baby cubs. At the moment Lulu and Max are back again and rumour has it that she is pregnant, perhaps we will be second time lucky.

2P’s

Are fit and strong with Penduka leading. He has become the little rascal with stalks and of course the most playful while Phoenix relaxes in the sun or shade, what every takes his fancy. As I mentioned earlier, the cubs have been enjoying cubs swims with the volunteers which happens once or twice a week.

3N’s

Are doing very well, T-Jay can’t stop leaving Bobbie alone. He LOVES him to bits, he will swim deep waters just to get to him, it’s an awesome sight to see, you can really tell that they have a strong bond together. J-Leigh and Becka are also very well, the older they get the more affectionate they are, it’s great because we all thought that these cubs were never going to be loving, they have proven us wrong!

4M’s

The 4M’s have been put in the Leopard enclosure for the moment, there is no talk of moving them but hopefully with the reconstruction of the Waterfall and other enclosure’s we might be able to place them in a better place. They are very healthy.

Puma, Micky & Milo

Puma has been moved to Anna & Mafuta's enclosure. They were not best pleased, but as he strutted his stuff round the enclosure they soon backed down and give him the respect he deserves.

PK and Cheeky

PK gave birth to one cub on Jan 7 but it died a few days later during a huge storm.

Rusha

Rusha had to be put down after an attack by Josephine and Maxwell caused severe injuries. Josephine considered Maxwell her man, so when Rusha sidled up to him she wasn't happy. A very sad day indeed.

Maxwell

Maxwell is now in with Sandy, Chemma, Alice & Rosie

Teddy

Teddy has been put with Kitty, Cate, Penga & Lucy.

Casper, Cleo, Amy, Else, Amber and Mel

These cubs have been moved to a new large enclosure and the girls have been making friends with Mickey & Milo through next door.
