Kenya Expedition - Exploring, Inspiring, Impacting
African
Impact is planning an overland
expedition to the Masai area in July/August 2006. We are taking
applications for about 18 intrepid travellers who will join us for
a one-week camel safari, a one-week wildlife safari, and two weeks
re-furbishing the base that will be used for the mobile camel clinic.
We are so excited about giving travellers the opportunity to experience
this fascinating area of Kenya, as well as to be immersed in rural
Masai communities for a time and to leave behind the gift of a base
from which the Nomadic Communities Trust will be able to operate
their camel clinic.
The cost of this expedition to travellers will also include all
equipment and materials required for the refurbishment of the camel
clinic base, as well as the restoration of a nearby clinic in a
local Masai village.
Volunteers as fundraisers and
administrator to assist Mobile Clinics in Kenya
We are looking for an older, mature individual or couple who would
like to spend a minimum of 3 months working with Shanni on various
aspects of administration and project development at her base location
of Laikipia in Kenya. The volunteers would stay in a beautiful and
simple cottage on Shanni’s property in this wildlife haven,
and would have the opportunity to go out into the wilderness to
visit the mobile clinics and see them in operation throughout various
different wilderness areas. Your main task would be to assist Shanni
with researching potential donors, editing of website information
for her work and to assist with general Trust administration. Editing
or writing experience would be a great asset for this placement.
Shanni is desperately in need of the extra assistance, and we are
offering volunteers the opportunity to make a valuable difference
in the operations of the Nomadic Communities Trust.

As with all our programmes, your fees for participating in this
work would include support and assistance with placement logistics
as well as your food and accommodation for the duration of your
time on the project. Also included is a project fee, which is funding
that goes directly towards the Nomadic Communities Trust and it’s
development. In this way African Impact is able to assist local
programmes and communities with manpower as well as limited funding.
