Latest news from the Vic Falls Lion volunteer project
We are looking into areas around Masuwe Lodge to build extra enclosures for the Vic Falls Lion volunteer project. 3N’s are growing really fast and will soon need a new enclosure further out in the wilderness. We will also soon be separating the 4M’s, as they are getting too big to handle in one group.
We have also been granted a lease on an exclusive Island in the Zambezi for the lion volunteer project, 15km up-stream from the thundering Victoria Falls!! National Parks in Zimbabwe have granted us a permit to lease the land for the next 5 years, and it’s an incredible opportunity to be further involved in the development and maintenance of African Eco-Systems. Mr and Mrs Conolly have gone to see it and from the sounds of things it’s magnificent. The island is surrounded by crystal clear water where you can walk for ages before you reach the deep end. It’s wild and filled with opportunity.
We also reached our highest amount of volunteers this month – we’ve had a total of 11 pairs of extra hands for the Lion volunteer programme here in Victoria Falls, which has been so encouraging!
