Zambia Child Education Volunteer Project – Starting a ‘life changing’ community volunteer programme

Not only have we been busy with Stage 2 but have finally put a school project in place. Gregg Bows and Michelle Ash have been busy getting it off the ground, here is a glimpse of what the Zambia child education project is all about...

“Well, Zambia is off and running! Gregg and I have just returned from Livingston where we have set up yet another wonderful ‘life changing’ volunteer project.

Livingston is 6kms from the Zimbabwe border at Vic Falls. For past volunteers who we dearly miss at Antelope Park who went on the Vic Falls trip, Livingston is the other side of the Falls you could see from the Zim side. This project is for the not so animal enthused volunteers, but for those who would like to help the African people improve their way of life and work in the community.

We are now accepting volunteers who would like to come and experience local African Pre & Primary school way of teaching or the day-to-day running of an Orphanage. In the schools the volunteers will be able to assist the teachers with all school subjects including Art & Craft, Sports activities, Woodwork, Computer lessons or anything else which might tickle their fancy that is going on at the school.

Most of the primary schools have somewhere between 1500 to 2000 students, so for those who like cooking I am sure you would be more than welcome in the kitchen (which is actually an outside fire), as all the students receive one meal at school a day. Teaching qualifications or experience is not necessary. All the schools and orphanages we are going to work with are eagerly waiting for volunteers as they are extremely excited that the students and orphans alike will benefit greatly from the cultural exchange they will receive from meeting volunteers from all over the world”.
