Namibia - Country Information
‘Kora’ translates to hello in the local Herero language, and German and English are also spoken. This interesting mix of local cultures is the gateway to the rugged and beautiful heart of Namibia’s striking 30000sq km of desert landscapes, home to some of the highest and most expansive dunes in the world. Her western border is made up of Atlantic ocean shoreline, which is a popular beach holiday destination in the summer.

Namibia Visas
Visitors from Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, the United States and Canada do not require visas for Namibia. You will need a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after your time of entry.
Namibia Health, Vaccinations, HIV/AIDS & Drinking Water
Malaria -
Malaria is only really a risk in the North East of the country.
Vaccinations -
Hepatitis A, Polio, Typhoid
Vaccination against yellow fever is mandatory if travelling from an infected area, and recommended even if you are not. Be sure to have your vaccination record of yellow fever with you when you arrive.
HIV/AIDS -
HIV/AIDS is a risk and it is recommended that you take all the necessary precautions. Namibia currently has one of the highest AIDS infection rates in the world.
It is not necessary to drink bottled water in Nambia.

Namibia Weather & Climate
- Located on the rugged South-West coastline of Africa, Namibia accommodates some extreme climatic variations.
- The central Namib Desert area can experience scorching daytime temperatures of up to 40°C and then fall to below freezing at night.
- Cooler, more bearable weather is experienced in the Windhoek area.
- Rainy season and hottest months - December is Namibia’s hottest month in all areas of the country.
- First rains come between October and December. Main rains fall from January to April.

- The Kalahari desert, the Namib desert and the Atlantic Ocean to the West offer every traveller a land of extreme and diverse beauties
- Sossusvlei is an enormous pan that features towering shifting sand dunes as high as 350 metres. Dune boarding is a definite must
