Malawi Visas
Visas are not required by Commonwealth citizens, the United States and most European nations (except Switzerland). Visas are limited to 30 days, but extensions are obtainable.
Malawi Health, Vaccinations, HIV/AIDS & Drinking Water
Malaria -
Malaria prophylactics recommended by your personal physician are necessary. As well as insect repellent and covering yourself up with long trousers and light cotton long-sleeved shirts in the evenings. Be cautions of Malaria in Mozambique all year round.
Vaccinations -
Hepatitis A, Polio, Typhoid
Vaccination against yellow fever is mandatory if travelling from an infected area, and recommended even if you are not. Be sure to have your vaccination record of yellow fever with you when you arrive.
HIV/AIDS -
HIV/AIDS is a risk and it is recommended that you take all the necessary precautions.
It is not necessary to drink bottled water in Malawi.

Malawi Weather & Climate
- Summer: Malawi’s Southern lowlands are very hot with high humidity levels. The rest of Malawi, and particularly the areas near Lake Malawi offer great weather, with warm sunshine and cool off-lake breezes.
- Rainy Season: November - March is the time of year for sporadic afternoon showers.
Malawi Travel Highlights
- Malawi is famous for the vast fresh waters of Lake Malawi and the mesmerising array of tropical fish that make their home in the depths. Local fishermen in their dugout canoes paddle languidly from island to island. The tranquil waters also offer unmatched snorkelling.
- To the north of the country tropical highlands and stunning wildlife make way for the borders of Tanzania and the plains of the Serengeti.
- Chambe in the South is home to Mt Mulanji, which offers stunning views of surrounding tea and coffee plantations.
