The country lies within the Great African Rift Valley, with Lake Malawi as its centrepiece, boasting breathtakingly clear waters, palm trimmed beaches and a variety of over 600 species of fish unequalled anywhere else in the world.
Lake Malawi National Park located at the southern end of Lake Malawi and it is the only national park in Malawi that was created to protect fish and aquatic habitats. Despite this it is home to other life such as baboons and a large baobab tree, claimed to be over 800 years old. This unique masterpiece was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.

Malawi's economy is based on agriculture in tobacco, sugar and tea-these being the main exports. All travel in Malawi includes an element of culture and local interaction, with the friendliness of its people giving the country its nickname “warm heart of Africa”. It has a number of places of particular cultural and historical interest across its regions, including original mission stations, historical buildings, monuments and museums. The Malawi Museum exhibits the heritage of Malawi through guided tours, traditional dances and contemporary music. There is also an exhibit on geological samples including the Machinga Meteorite of 1981.
A safari in Malawi is sure to be memorable, being home to 9 national parks. It is blessed with the Big Five as well as a vast assortment of antelope, other smaller cats and hippos. There is over 170 species of mammals and some 649 recorded species of bird-making it a naturalist’s paradise!
